45 countries are preparing to join BRICS in the weeks before the summit

Just a few weeks before the summit, 23 countries submitted an official application to join the BRICS alliance. Another 22 countries have expressed interest in joining the bloc, but have not yet sent official applications. Thus, there are 45 countries on the list that want to be part of the BRICS alliance at the upcoming summit.

23 countries submitted official applications to join BRICS: Algeria, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Thailand , United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Vietnam.
Moreover, the development puts the US dollar at risk as more countries want to stop using the dollar in trade.

The decision on BRICS expansion will be taken jointlySouth by the members at the upcoming summit in Johannesburg. BRICS is an acronym for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The next summit is scheduled for August 22-24 in South Africa. Leaders from 69 otther countries were invited to the summit, Ambassador Anil Suklal said.
